An early 20th century Khatam Kari Micro Mosaic bone tabletop trinket/cigarette box. Circa 1900-1920. 16.5x10x4cm

A very attractive box decorated with the ancient Persian micro mosaic technique known as Khātam or Khatam-kari . The surface of the wooden box beneath is covered on all sides with  precisely-cut intricate geometric patterns of wood, bone and brass. Slight damage to the inside lip edge.
